Coach Wu Jian Lin, @iamjwjw and I talking about the first to second pull and when to start accelerating. Because the Chinese teach a centered and “straight” pulling technique, control must be exhibited until about 4-5cm prior to the power position before starting acceleration.

This makes the first pull much longer/later than other pulling techniques. A common error that occurs if speed is added too soon is the knees shove forward prematurely therefore changing the body position and reducing power transfer to the bar.
