Mondays are usually lighter technique days for the kids. 14 year old Lily has been working timing and tempo on her clean and jerks at 100kg. This is probably the 4th or 5th set I’ve seen her take at this point.
Finding a tempo for the movement allows an athlete to feel the lift without getting too lost in the technical details which has a tendency to make the athlete move too mechanically. The pumping of the legs you see Lily doing allows her to feel her legs and apply pressure into her center. This will allow the greatest potential for upward drive and power transfer to the barbell.
