Getting some practice in during lunch yesterday. Blocks take a bit of effort to set-up at my box so it was a nice treat to have them already out and ready to go.
Pulling/lifting from blocks are a great way to train and develop strength from specific points of the lift. For my beginners, we’ll set the blocks a bit higher so the bar starts above the knees. This allows them to focus on lifting in good positions without having to worry, yet, about how to negotiate the knee transition. For my more advanced athletes, we’ll lift from various heights all the way down to just above the floor level to build strength and fluidity from these different points.
