Weightlifters will use assistance lifts to try and strengthen their position under movement. Deadlifts, pulls and high pulls are commonly inserted after the classic lifts are performed to get some extra work in before moving on to parts of the workout.

The benefit, however, really only comes if you perform the various pulls the same way as you would snatch or clean.

To test if you do, try performing a:

deadlift + pull + high-pull + snatch/clean.

Did they feel the same or did each lift feel different?
