I get asked a lot about what our club does for programming. My answer is always it depends on what block or cycle we’re on and what elements were trying to push. Snatch, clean&jerk, and squats are the staple throughout the week with accessory movements sprinkled in for flavor.

For my five day program, the heaviest days are on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday with Tuesday and Thursday being the lighter to medium level workouts.

For my four day program, the heaviest days are on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with the lighter to medium level workout on Wednesday.

This my general thread and it’s not set in stone. I experiment a lot with different programming models to see how the group responds. And so far my general consensus is that as long as the reps they get in are quality and as long as they are consistent, everyone seems to be increasing their numbers had a pretty steady pace.

One last point to make are that deload weeks are pretty important, we schedule one every four to five weeks. I’ve tried pushing the envelope to see how long folks can go before starting to get a little toasty and it seems to be right around that four to five week mark. Point being? Plan your deloads or they will plan you.
