Having troubles with your start position off the floor? Need to learn how to stay on your pull longer? Or, maybe you just want a little variety in your training? Try snatching/cleaning off a 2” deficit. Benefits of deficit work include:
1. Because you will be in a slightly more upright position, the use of the legs to initiate the movement is more forced reinforcing a stronger start off the floor.
2. Because the bar must travel a greater distance, it will teach a lifter to stay on their pull longer for those of you who like get behind early and cut the pull short.
3. Again, due to the greater length of the pull, this exercise becomes immediately more challenging. This could offer up some nice training variety for athletes looking to keep the mental focus high while keeping the overall intensity (load) lower.
