We’ve all heard the benefits of training with a partner, with a club, watching YouTube videos of high level lifters do their thing.

Part of it is the psychological push of training with someone(s) better than you and sharing the common goal of trying to level up the playing field. But the other part is what we all wished we could do back when we were still in school: learn through osmosis while we slept drooling over our text books.

Positions in weightlifting are centered around providing the athlete with maximum leverage which also allows the athlete to execute the movement with excellent flow. When looking at the receiving stance of the snatch, we want to see 3 things:

1. A squat width that allows for good depth. The deepest of squats.

2. This width should also accommodate an upright torso that carries a slight forward inclination.

3. Good knee to ankle alignment providing optimal stabilization mechanics.
