Kids at this school range from ages 9-18. This technical institute serves as the main center for training. Typically, kids come from feeder schools nearby. Either Coach Wu will visit these schools to watch kids move, or coaches from these schools will ask Coach Wu to come down when they feel they have a kid with potential in the sport.

Arrived in Zhuhai, China to meet up with Coach Wu Jian Lin. Coach Wu is the head weightlifting coach at The Sport Technical Institute of Zhuhai where we will be spending the next 2 weeks. In good Chinese fashion, we were taken to have a 7 course lunch with Coach Wu and his wife before heading to the school to train with the kids.

16.5 is the final Open event of the year and this is a combination that shouldn’t be too surprising to those that have recently (re)taken their CrossFit L1. Thrusters and burpees are on tap and this all engine event leaves you no where to hide!
Thrusters
1. Use the set of 21 to grease the groove pushing hard but not going all out. Find a sustained pace until you get to round 6 and 3. On those rounds, go and don’t stop!
2. Use your legs to drive the bar and spare the shoulders for burpees.
3. Exchange your breathe at the top of the movement, not anywhere else.
